Tonight I was able to attend the annual Chinese New Year Party, hosted by South Coast Plaza, thanks to a good friend of mine. To ring in the year of the horse, the giant shopping center threw a casual gala complete with catered food and performers flown in from China. And of course, what’s a party without party favors? As an upscale-luxury retail mogul, South Coast Plaza didn’t disappoint in that area. Every guest, upon leaving the party, received a traditional Lunar Year red envelope that contained a $2 bill and vouchers for valet parking and access to the shopping center’s VIP lounge.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture moments with my HD camera, so I had to settle for using the dinky one on my Galaxy S4. You can’t really see my dress or accessories clearly in these photos, but for this event, I was told “cocktail attire” (can that be any more vague?) so, to be safe, I opted for dark colors and went with a Mango bandage dress, which was covered up with a leather-trimmed black Express moto jacket that boasted some color with its gold hardware. To complete the black and gold look, I decided on a gold watch, gold rings, and gold earrings. You just can’t go wrong with a black and gold theme!
